Nerve Treatment
Nerve treatment, also known as a baby root canal, is performed when cavities penetrate the nerve of a tooth. In some cases, it may also be necessary for large cavities that are clinically or radiographically visible, even if they do not cause pain or sensitivity. During the procedure, the affected nerve tissue is carefully removed, and the area is thoroughly cleaned and irrigated with a sterile solution. The space is then filled with a biocompatible material to preserve the tooth’s vitality and function.

For permanent teeth, every effort is made to protect the pulp space. When cavities approach the nerve, medication is applied to safeguard the pulp and prevent further progression, a process known as indirect pulp therapy. In severe cases, a full root canal treatment may be necessary to save the tooth and eliminate infection.
Root canal treatment in children is often misunderstood and surrounded by controversy, but it is a safe and effective procedure designed to save a tooth from serious damage caused by infection or decay. The goal of a root canal is to remove the infected tissue inside the tooth, clean it, and seal it to prevent further complications. While some may fear that root canals are painful or harmful, modern techniques ensure that the procedure a child's natural tooth, preventing the need for more extensive treatments like tooth extractions. This is especially important for maintaining proper alignment and functionality of the surrounding teeth.
